Scar Tissue Massage

Physiotherapy can play a vital role in properly treating and healing scar tissue. Whether you’ve developed scar tissue after a surgery, a car accident, or a cut, fracture, or burn, it’s important to talk to a physical therapist to learn how scar tissue massage can help promote remodeled tissue. We are trained in helping patients treating their scar tissue through a variety of techniques.

Myofascial massage techniques will be used to help the scar tissues. It can help can help by breaking down the scar tissue, making the injured tissue more flexible and releasing tension in the area. With myofascial release, the tissue is lengthened and gently realigned in a fashion more consistent with normal tissue. This allows a greater range of movement, particularly if the scar is near a joint, alleviates pressure on nerves and surrounding areas and reduces pain.

The breakdown of scar tissue is a common benefit gained through massage. Our therapists help break down scar tissue through massage to help decrease pain, increase range of movement and relieve restriction.
